A lavender centerpiece, peach bouquet, rose wedding cake, cream table linens and mint invitations — you may have guessed, we’re feeling pretty in pastels! We totes adore the summery soft hues responsible for adding a romantic pop to all things wedding. Speaking of pop, it’s time for us to go break out the bubbly! Until next time….cheers!

Connoisseur Q&A: Couture Candy Buffets
- by It! Weddings & Events
Heather Waters, owner & designer of Couture Candy Buffets in Melbourne
What she is obsessed with: Sweets, design, entertaining and baking!
What is so 2010: Everything matchy-matchy. I recently designed a candy buffet at a wedding where the bride chose the color for her bridesmaids dresses but let her bridesmaids have free reign in picking the style of their dress. Her wedding party looked amazing because each bridesmaid was wearing a dress that flattered her body.
What’s the next big thing? Candy/Dessert Buffets instead of traditional favors or cake. This allows guests to get out of their seats and mingle when choosing their favorites (bonus – they can take a bit home for later).
What should brides and grooms already know before contacting you? To be looking to provide something fun, delicious and memorable for their guests.
What is your specialty? What sets you apart from others in your industry? Creating beautiful candy and dessert displays for special events! We work with all of our clients on a one-on-one basis, our services are a-la-carte and we are more than happy to travel anywhere in Florida. Lastly, we are all about keeping up on latest trends!
How do you structure your fees? All pricing is charged on a combination of factors including design, location, number of guests, amount of customization, and candy selection. To design your stylish candy buffet, the candy selection can be based upon the theme/color scheme of your event or your favorite candy combination.
SWEET & SIMPLE serves up to 100 guests, includes up to 5 different couture candies and clear cello bag with ties.
SWEET-N-SASSY serves up to 200 guests, includes up to 7 different couture candies and clear cello bag with ties.
SWEET COUTURE serves up to 300 guests, includes up to 10 different couture candies and customized cello bag with ties.
We provide approximately 4 ounces of candy per guest, and there is a 40 guest minimum. All candy buffet packages include: consultation, assorted candy selection, ribbon accents, glass/plastic containers, linens, centerpiece, tongs/scoops, set-up/tear down, clear cello bags and custom labels for jars. Candy selection depends upon colors and availability. Custom packages also are available.
It! Inspiration: Black & White Stripes
- by It! Weddings & Events
Choosing a wedding theme, color scheme, venue or wedding cake flavor can be a black-and-white decision for some, and shades gray for others. Fortunately for us all, these options translate quite literally into themes themselves, with black and white stripes serving as a bold, town-meets-country theme for any season. But beware, this pattern can get quite repetitive. To avoid hypnotizing your guests, try adding pops of candy apple red, magenta or canary yellow to your color palette. When done right, this simple print will ooze posh party!

Real Wedding: Blake + Weston Cotton, Palm Beach
- by It! Weddings & Events
Blake Cotton, the bride (and brains) behind this operation was inspired to pull off a romantic vintage garden wedding in the middle of a marina ….
…and boy did she ever!
Draped in a Paloma Blanca wedding gown, Blake carried a cotton bouquet — in honor of becoming Mrs. Cotton, natch — while the groom wore a black linen suit adorned with a cotton boutonnière (totes adorable!). The bride’s veil was “borrowed” from her sister, and her “something blue” sparkled via sapphire earrings. And don’t forget the “something old” — Blake wore her Mikimoto pearl necklace and her grandmother’s wedding bands.
The bridal parties consisted of family and close childhood friends. Blake’s matron of honor was her twin sister, Lauren Bennion, and Weston’s best man was his brother, Britton Cotton. Blake had each bridesmaid select a dress of their choice with little guidance to stay within a blush-tone color palate. The girls chose dresses from Ciarla Bride out of Austin, Texas, from Project Runway finalist Carol Hannah’s wedding line, Urban Outfitters and Barneys New York. They carried bouquets of fresh peonies, wax flowers, garden roses, snap dragons and other wild flowers. Blake wrapped the bouquets with ivory lace and a personalized charm necklace for each bridesmaid.
Appetizers and signature cocktail, Sangria, was provided by Adventurous Palette. Dinner and dancing followed thanks to local band Vanilla Monk. Weston and Blake’s first dance was to “Lucky” by Jason Mraz and Colbie Callait. This was performed by Blake’s good friend and upcoming artist Janette Marin and lead singer of Vanilla Monk, Matt Farr. The bride and groom opted out of the traditional guest book and went with a photo booth. It was a hit! Each guest had their picture taken and left a copy for the couple with advice for the newlyweds.
And once the clock struck midnight the couple was sent off in sparkling style to Jamaica! Bon voyage!

It! Inspiration: Twine
- by It! Weddings & Events
When we want an organic, rustic, yet modern way to tie the knot (or bow), we make a beeline for twine! The earthy charm of the twisted natural fibers make weddings favors or bouquets simply chic. Our favorite use for twine? Floating string chandeliers over decorated tables (take a peek below). If you’re brave enough to tackle this DYI project, check out this step-by-step by our faboosh friends at Ruffled!

We’re Obsessed!: Preppy Sweetheart Dylan Lauren gets hitched!
- by It! Weddings & Events
If you haven’t wrapped your manicured little hands on the August issue of Vogue, we suggest you do not pass go and proceed directly to your local magazine stand. It’s guaranteed to hit your sweet spot!
This month’s issue features one our favorite It! Girls, Dylan Lauren (Ralph Lauren’s only daughter & owner of the delicious Dylan’s Candy Bar), who was recently wed to hedge funder Paul Arrouet last June in Bedford, New York. The stunning bride wore a handmade silk tulle and duchess satin gown with a mermaid silhouette — and an impressive 9-foot tiered train — designed by her own father (lucky!).
Connoisseur Q&A: The Sugar Suite
- by It! Weddings & Events
Jennyfer Mancino, Cake Designer & Owner of The Sugar Suite, Orlando
What she is obsessed with? Personal Style. I love it when a couple has details of their wedding that are hyper personal. One couple was obsessed with breakfast and wanted to give as their favors breakfast cupcakes (pancake cupcakes, maple buttercream and candied bacon). The detail on their wedding cake is inspired by a 100 year old lace veil passed down through the bride’s family. Those details are not only completely original, but give their guests a glimpse into who they are as a couple.
What is so 2010? Draping! Please no more draping!
What’s the next big thing? Metallics! Gold, silver copper and dozens of in betweens such as “rose gold,” “cool copper” and “pearly pewter”… original names by us!
Metallics are a great way to be grand, but clean and elegant at the same time. Grand is always in style, but the industry is constantly reinventing what “grand” means.
What should brides and grooms already know before contacting you? I always ask my couples what is the one design element or inspiration piece of their wedding they are totally jazzed about…. and we go from there. One bride had a very clear answer to that question: her dress. She showed me a picture, and after my brief squeal of delight, we came up with the following design:
What is your specialty? What sets you apart from others in your industry? Our clients would say our buttercream. When I first started this business I researched what buttercream the top bakers in the country were using, and Swiss Meringue was the answer. It’s a little more complicated to execute, but I think totally worth it!
What is your advice for the modern couple when it comes to your industry? The modern wedding cake is hyper-custom and brings all the design elements of the wedding reception together. If a bride has a stunningly sophisticated dress and a rustic venue, a custom wedding cake can take both of those elements and reflect one cohesive design. Expect a lot from your wedding cake designer, and don’t settle!
It! Inspiration: Succulents
- by It! Weddings & Events
We truly are convinced succulents are Mother Earth’s wedding gift to Summer newly weds. Giving the perfect earthy glow to a wedding cake, bouquet, centerpiece, boutonniere, place setting, wedding favor, (is there anything these small but mighty plants can’t do?), succulents have the ability to withstand heat and are always in bloom. Whew! That’s great news for us It! Girls! We were born with a teal thumb, not green.
