We’re Obsessed!: Wedding Party App
- by It! Weddings & Events
After your Wedding Day has come and gone, you have only pictures. But who wants to wait until you get back from the honeymoon to see all the fun everyone had at your big soiree?

We’re obsessed with the Wedding Party app, specially designed to give you pictures pronto! How it works: Put a note in the program or at the guest book or escort card table asking your guests to add the app to their smart phone, then search for your name. And bam! All your guests are able to upload photos from your wedding in one place (after all, who wants to comb hundreds of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pics when Honeymooning?). Afterward, you have the option of uploading the album to Facebook for all to see chronologically.
We’re Obsessed: ‘New York, New York’ by Hilary Geary Ross and Harry Benson
- by It! Weddings & Events
Being that we adore all things glamorous, it’s only natural that we ran out to the book store with wallet in hand the moment the lovely Hilary Geary Ross released her latest tome, “New York New York,” ($85, Powerhouse Books) featuring photographs from renowned British shutterbug Harry Benson. Offering an insider’s view of New York society and scenes from the days that defined chic, “New York New York” is a must-have. We caught up with Hilary recently at one of our favorite shops in Palm Beach, Leta Austin Foster, and chatted her up about the city that never sleeps.
“I met Harry years ago in the late 80s when he photographed me along with famed dress designer Christian Lacroix walking down the street with Blaine Trump and Kimberly Rockefeller in New York City,” says Hilary, a noted society columnist. “More recently, we got to know each other better in Palm Beach where we all live and often dine together.”
The idea for the book, she says, was born out of one of those little dinners with Harry and Gigi (his wife and collaborator ) and Hilary’s husband, billionaire financier Wilbur Ross. ”It was a joy to work with Harry as he is a true professional: talented, punctual, prepared and remarkably imaginative. He has the natural ability to put people at ease with his perfect manners and self effacing charm.”
Subjects include Diane Sawyer, Halston, Truman Capote, Robert Redford, Neil Simon, Tom Wolfe, Norman Mailer, Spike Lee, Malcolm Forbes, Al Pacino, Lauren Hutton, Lena Horne, Andy Warhol, Yogi Bera, Jackie Kennedy, Gerard Butler, Cindy Lauper, Daryl Hannah, Mario Cuomo, Birdie Bell, Donald Trump, Brooke Astor, Yoko Ono, Woody Allen, and Michael Kors among many others.
History, photography and fashion buffs will adore 40 years of images from Benson. “One of my favorite photos was of Hugh Jackman with his wife Deborra -Lee in their Richard Meier duplex overlooking the river,” says Hilary. “The apartment was so glamorous — all white with dazzling views that took your breath away. Both Jackman’s were hospitable and charming. Can’t beat that!”
We’re Obsessed: Typewriter Guestbook
- by It! Weddings & Events
We love the vintage look of an old typewriter. Set one up for you guests with lots of paper, asking them to leave a message for the bride and groom, and let them type away their wedding wishes! Not only is it fun for your guests, but it is also totally cool and will leave you with a fantastic frame-worthy document.
We’re Obsessed!: Bite-Sized Food
- by It! Weddings & Events
Of course there’s the typical selection of bite sized hors d’oeuvres at weddings such as sliders and cheese and crackers, but weddings today are taking “bite sized” to a whole new level. They are offering mini-portions of America’s favorite foods and turning them into something unexpectedly gourmet. We really love the glass of milk with a cookie on top and the grilled cheese wedge with tomato bisque. We have also seen mini hotdogs, mini soft pretzels over a dip, etc. Everything can be devoured in one or two bites! We personally hate standing at an event, trying to hold my drink in one hand and a plate in the other while figuring out a way to balance everything so we can pick up our forks to eat the food on the plate! You guys know what we’re talking about. Mini, bite-sized food options are the perfect way to ensure that your guests always have a free hand to hold their drink! And the great thing is, most of your favorite foods can be turned into a mini-version, so get creative!

We’re Obsessed: Spritz
- by It! Weddings & Events

If there’s one thing our It! girl, Lauren, brought back from Italy, it was a new favorite (adult) beverage. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Spritz! It’s so simple; you’d think a Real Housewife would have bottled it up already! Don’t worry, It! girls start the trends around here. How do you make this delish Spritz, you ask? Fill a glass with ice, pour 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperol (your new orange liquor best friend), and 1 splash of soda or seltz. Add a slice of a fresh orange to garnish the rim and enjoy! The Spritz is easy to sip, refreshing on a hot Florida day, and low cal. Magnifico! You put the It! in this Italian specialty.
Ciao bellas!

We’re Obsessed: Raven + Lily
- by It! Weddings & Events
Raven + Lily is a socially responsible lifestyle brand dedicated to empowering women through creative design partnerships. Its message encourages strength and the ability to rise above challenges, reflecting the beauty and culture of every woman artisan and inspiring hope and opportunity.
The Raven + Lily paper collection is crafted by women in Northern India who print, press and stamp delicate images on recycled paper and textile remnants. Newspapers, cotton rags, old army tents and denim jeans have a whole new purpose – saying thank you has never meant so much! Soaps are made with love using organic and natural ingredients, and wood jewelry is handcrafted from locally sourced wood – gifts any bridesmaid would love. Marginalized Muslim women from this region gain employment and sustainability by crafting stationery and journals from these materials.
In the mountains of Northern Ethiopia, farmers supply bead makers with artillery shells from former war conflicts for Raven + Lily’s beaded jewelry collection. This partnership provides jobs, HIV treatment and educational opportunities for patients’ families. These women skillfully create their exclusive jewelry designs in a loving, community environment.

We’re Obsessed: Cake in a Jar!
- by It! Weddings & Events
Add a touch of nostalgia to your dessert bar by swapping traditional wedding sweets for Cakes in a Jar! Just bake up some pies (or have your fave pastry chef or pie shop bake them up because, let’s face it, you’re busy blogging), scoop a serving size into a lidded mason jar for your guests to enjoy. Serve it up with a spoon at an outdoor wedding, or offer it as scrumptious treat for guests to bring home. Here is a cute way to display one of our favorites, Red Velvet and Cream Cheese frosting…YUM!

Real Wedding: Shara + Vinnie, Versace Mansion, South Beach
- by It! Weddings & Events
We’re not sure whether this vid by Fandango Studios is better suited to a Real Wedding or an Obsession because holy moly we cannot get enough! It’s vintage Las Vegas meets Miami modern with a cinematic twist that’s comically sexy. From the poolside dance intro to the groom’s hungover run-in with the alarm clock, we think Fandango totally captured the spirit of this fun couple!
And can we talk about the Villa by Barton G. for a moment? We just happened to take a tour with the lovely Joe Gibialante, general manager, earlier this month to see what all the fuss is about. And IF THOSE WALLS COULD TALK! Each of the guest rooms was tailored to a family member or friend of the late Gianni Versace, who lost his life on the mansion’s front steps and put the property on the paparazzi-laced map in perpetuity. From the double king beds to the mind-boggling mosaics, this place is mesmerizing — a shrine to opulence in the middle of one of the sexiest spots in America.
So check out the video, we’ll be gassing up the convertible and heading south with our tops off — we mean down! Heading south with the top down!

This past season, I was honored to have been invited by the inimitable Annie Falk to join the luxuriously literary Daphne Nikolopoulos, the sassy and chic Victoria Amory, the ever-stylish Katherine Lande and the spiritual shutterbug Jerry Rabinowitz on a fantasy journey through Palm Beach’s hautest homes, yachts and gardens.
Co-authors Annie, Daphne and I put pen to paper (ok, fingertips to keyboard) to share inspiration from hearth and home while photographing some of the island’s savviest hosts and hostesses for “Palm Beach Entertaining: Creating Occasions to Remember.” Styling place settings, floral arrangements, food photography and portraits along the way, we had a ball!
